Concrete work lives or dies on what happens before the pour. The base has to be excavated to the right depth, compacted properly, and graded so water runs away from the building rather than towards it.
These photos show walkway and patio sections through preparation, pour and finish. Control joints are cut at the right spacing so that when the slab moves — and it will — it cracks where we decided rather than across the middle.
